Nobody likes to be put on hold.  We want service now.  It is one of the inevitable things.  The other day I had called a customer service line, which was automated, and I was on hold for twenty three minutes before I just hung up.  A recent survey by ResearchNow, revealed that the average person will spend about forty three days of their life on hold with automated customer service systems.

Five hundred consumers were polled and it was determined that fifty-eight percent become ticked off at being put on hold, forty-eight percent believe it is useless to call a business, and eighty-six percent said they were put on hold when calling a business.  TalkTo, a business app that helps customers text businesses rather than calling is hoping to relieve some of this wait time and stress.

Automated answering systems are the norm but man do I miss having an actual person answer the phone.  It is ironic that customer service departments use automation.  I mean isn't the whole idea of customer service, communicating with the consumer and resolving any issue as quickly as possible?  I thought so, anyway.
