"Thanks honey!"  "Have a great day, sweetie."  "How are you today dear?"  Sounds like a couple talking, doesn't, it?  What if I told you it was a part of customer service.  I was out and about this weekend and had an odd encounter.  And, this wasn't the first time I left feeling awkard.

Now I think being friendly is a part of good customer service but, it seems weird to me when someone younger than me calls me honey, dear, and sweetie all in a two minute encounter.  I would not think twice about it if the person was older than me.  Now, maybe it is just me, but I think you need to at least be older than the person before you talk "motherly" to them.

Now when it comes to customer service, I would give this person an A+.  Very attentive, friendly, and even wearing a smile.  Just too many terms of endearment.
