Every Friday on WSRK, we go back to the 1980's and 1990's with our Friday Flashback from 9am to 10am.  Today's flashback pick is from Cameo.

Flashing back to 1986 with Janet Jackson, today in music history.  The youngest of nine Jackson children, Janet started as a child actress starring on "Good Times" and "Diff'rent Strokes".  She went on to star in other shows and a number of movies, not to mention her huge career in music.

Janet Jackson is today's focus in our Friday Flashback.  Born in Gary, Indiana on May 16, 1966, Janet became the youngest member of a very talented family.  Sister of, The Jacksons, Janet made her own mark in the acting and music world.

The top song of the eighties decade didn't belong to Madonna or Michael Jackson.  It wasn't sung by Billy Joel or John Cougar.  In fact, the artist with the top song of the eighties was the leading lady in a very popular musical film.

Rockabilly trio, Stray Cats stood out in the eighties with their throwback style and music.  Brain Setzer on lead vocals and guitar, Lee Rocker played bass, and Slim Jim Phantom pounded out the rhythm on the drums.  Their singles, "Rock this Town" (number nine single in 1982) and "Stray Cat Strut" (number three hit single in 1983) were some of my favorite 45's on the record pla

It was the fall of 1990.  I was heading into my senior year of high school at Laurens Central School.  There was a song that everyone was singing and dancing to.  There was a style of hair cut that many boys tried to carry.  It was a fever caused by artist Vanilla Ice and his number one hit, "Ice Ice Baby".

On this day in 1986, Whitney Houston went to number one on the U.S. album chart with her self titled album.  The album stayed in the number one position for an incredible fourteen weeks.

We have been watching a lot of reruns of Happy Days lately at my house.  It is kind of cool going back and watching them again because I'm relearning a lot of Happy Days factoids.  Like, did you know Joanie and Chachi broke up for a short time in the summer of '62.   Yes, I am a Happy Days geek.

The Los Angeles formed hard-rock group, Ratt is our Friday Flashback feature group.  The hair band, made up of Stephen Pearcy on vocals, Warren DeMartini and Robbin Crosby on guitar, Juan Croucier on bass, and Bobby Blotzer on drums, had two top 40 Billboard hits.  "Round And Round" in 1984 and "Lay It Down" in 1985.
