The top song of the eighties decade didn't belong to Madonna or Michael Jackson.  It wasn't sung by Billy Joel or John Cougar.  In fact, the artist with the top song of the eighties was the leading lady in a very popular musical film.

Olivia Newton-John, who played Sandy in the movie Grease, scored the biggest song of the eighties, according to Billboard, with her single, "Physical".  The 1981 hit remained on the charts for twenty-six weeks.  Twenty-one weeks in the Top 40, fifteen weeks in the Top 10, and a whomping ten weeks at number one, making it the biggest hit of the decade.
