Pop-rock group, Dexys Midnight Runners, of Birmingham, England, had one of the biggest U.S singles in 1983.  "Come On Eileen" was the number five song of that year but began it's success in the year prior.

I don't think anyone can argue that this is big hair at it's best.  The poor guy in the picture is actually leaning back to accommodate the woman's hair and he is still almost hidden by it.  Classic eighties hair.  The bigger, the better...

The top song of the eighties decade didn't belong to Madonna or Michael Jackson.  It wasn't sung by Billy Joel or John Cougar.  In fact, the artist with the top song of the eighties was the leading lady in a very popular musical film.

One of the most creative videos to come out of the eighties has to be a-ha's, "Take On Me".  Nothing like it.  It takes you from our world to a world of fantasy.  The single was great on it's own but the video set it on fire.
