State Health Commissioner Dr. Nirav Shah, was joined by New York City Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley and representatives from leading health care and community organizations in Manhattan to officially launch a statewide, five-year plan to improve the health and quality of life for all New Yorkers.

The plan serves as a blueprint for local community action to improve health and address health disparities. The Prevention Agenda identifies key strategies and interventions to address critical health issues and reduce health disparities in five priority areas: Prevent chronic disease, substance abuse, promote healthy and safe environments, healthy women, infants and children, and mental health.

It also aims to prevent HIV, STDs, vaccine preventable diseases, and healthcare-associated infections.
