Roxette, the pop-rock duo from Sweden, scored their second number on single on the U.S. charts on this day, November 4, in 1989.  "Listen To Your Heart" stayed at the top spot for one week.

It is every artist's goal to have a number one album.  It is a challenging achievement.  Then to have an album produce seven top ten U.S. singles, is spectacular and only three albums have done that.  Today in music history we go back to 1989 when Janet Jackson climbed to number one on the U.S. album chart with Rhythm Nation 1814.  She would remain queen for four weeks.

Today in music history, we go back to 1988 when Phil Collins climbed to number one on the U.S. singles chart with 'Groovy Kind Of Love'.  The hit would stay there for two weeks. It was Collins sixth U.S. number one single.

The pop-rock band from Toronto celebrated 'One Week" for one week.  On this day, October 17, 1998 the Barenaked Ladies climbed to number on the US singles chart with their single 'One Week'.  Ironically, it only stayed at number one for one week.  The hit spent sixteen weeks in the Top 40.

Flashing back to 1986 with Janet Jackson, today in music history.  The youngest of nine Jackson children, Janet started as a child actress starring on "Good Times" and "Diff'rent Strokes".  She went on to star in other shows and a number of movies, not to mention her huge career in music.

Nirvana's third album and their final studio album, 'In Utero', climbed to number one on the U.S. album chart on this day in 1993.  The name that Kurt Cobain wanted to give the album originally was quite different.

Today, October 7,  in music history, we go back to 1989, when Paula Abdul finally climbed to number one on the U.S. album chart with "Forever Your Girl".  It was on the Billboard 200 for sixty four weeks before it hit the top status.  She set a new record for having the longest run on the album chart before hitting number one.

September 25, in 2006 was the day in music history that proved Justin Timberlake brought "Sexyback".  Timberlake climbed his way to the number spot with his hit song "Sexyback" on the U.S. single chart.  The song went on to become Timberlake's first number one single on the Billboard's Top 100 chart and remained at number one for seven weeks...

In 1986, one of the hottest movies was "Top Gun", featuring Tom Cruise, Kelly McGillis, Meg Ryan, Val Kilmer, and Anthony Edwards.  Maverick, Iceman, and Goose compete to be the best in the Navy's elite fighter weapons school.  Just as the movie blew up the ticket booths, the soundtrack blew up the charts.
