Just when you think the Houston Texans couldn't be any more dysfunctional, they release JJ Watt. Watt met with the owners of the team and asked for his release and the team granted his request. Watt is or should I say WAS the unquestioned leader of the Texans and even though he's had injuries, he still could make just about any defense and team better. Seeing the Texans without #99 out there is odd enough but for the Texans to release Watt and get nothing in return is even crazier. If I'm a GM I'm on the phone with Watt's agent RIGHT NOW!

Watt made the announcement in a video on his Twitter.

It's unclear where JJ Watt will play next season but I can't help but look at him like Ronnie Lott. Lott who was a focal point of the 49ers defense from 1981 to 1990 then went and stabilized the Raiders defense from 1991-1992 before adding toughness and leadership to the Jets defense in 1993 and 1994. Sure Lott wasn't the same player he was for the 49ers anymore but he upgraded both the Raiders and Jets with leadership and toughness not to mention was still a solid player.

I think any of the New York teams would be crazy to not at least make a pitch to JJ Watt. The Jets would be a long shot because Watt will most likely want to join a team with playoff potential but who knows? The Giants seem like a 50/50 shot to me. Imagine that already overperforming defensive unit with Watt added to the pass rush. Finally, the Bills could be a legit possibility considering they were a game away from the Super Bowl this year.

I also can't help but think any team that did land JJ Watt would have a better chance of getting current Houston Texans' QB Deshaun Watson to waive his no-trade clause.

Sean Pendergast from the Houston Texans flagship station Sportradio 610 joined us to explain the dysfunction that is the Texans.

Wherever JJ Watt plays next they'll get a leader and one of the hardest workers in the NFL. The dumpster fire that is the Texans is burning brighter than ever today.
