20 Weird New York State Laws You May Have Broken

Most of us living in New York State understand the basic laws that we must abide as citizens. These known laws are followed (for the most part) on a daily basis in order to maintain a safe environment in each respected community.On the flip side, there are a bunch of extremely bizarre laws that most people probably have no idea exist. Here are some unknown laws that you can be arrested or ticketed for in the state of New York.

1. It is legal for women to be topless in public, as long as it is not for business purposes.
2. While riding in an elevator, one must talk to no one, and fold their hands while looking toward the door.
3. It is against the law to throw a ball at someone’s face for pleasure.
4. It is illegal for a woman to be on the street wearing “body hugging clothing”.
5. A license must be purchased prior to hanging clothes on a clothesline.
6. A fine of $25 can be levied for flirting.
7. Jumping off a building is illegal and is punishable by death.
8. You cannot divorce for irreconcilable differences unless the parties agree to it.
9. Slippers are not to be worn past 10 P.M.
10. You may not smoke within 100 feet of the entrance to a public building
11. A man can’t go outside while wearing a jacket and pants that do not match.
12. Every business must have spitoons and clean them every 24 hours
13. A person is not allowed to walk around on Sundays with an ice cream cone in his or her pocket.
14. People cannot greet each other with their thumb up against their nose while wiggling their fingers.
15. It is illegal to stand with two or more people with their faces covered by masks or disguising their identity.
