A Tioga County judge has been censured for accidentally firing a gun in his chambers and for approving his own pistol permit.

Judge Vincent Sgueglia was the only licensing officer in Tioga County, but according to the state commission on judicial conduct, the judge did not know he could not approve his own pistol permit.

Sgueglia was allegedly attempting to repair the gun when it accidently discharged in his chambers during a break in court proceedings. The commission told him that handling a gun in his chambers showed a lack of good judgement and disregard for the safety of others.
