La Bamba Today In Music History [Video]

Ritchie Valens, born in California in 1941,  was a Latin rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist with late 1950's hits like, "Donna" and "La Bamba".  He died tragically in a plane crash in 1959 along with Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper. In 1987, a movie about his life was released, titles "La Bamba"

Los Lobos remade Valens' hit "La Bamba", and started a three week run at number one on the U.S singles chart, on this day, August 29, 1987.
