Irene Cara’s ‘Fame’ in Music History [Video]

Irene Cara, who starred of the original hit movie, Fame, climbed all the way to the number one spot on U.K. singles charts on this day, July 15, 1982 with the same titled song, from the hit TV series that told the story of teenagers attending a New York City drama school.   Cara played the role of Coco Hernandez in the original movie in 1980.  She won a Golden Globe Award for the single as well as an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
