In an announcement, Hartwick College has revealed that one of their graduates was a victim of the tragic Schoharie County crash that killed 18 passengers in a limousine and 2 bystanders on Saturday.  Below is a message that was sent out to the Hartwick College Community from Karen P. McGrath, Vice President for Enrollment and Student Experience.

"Dear Hartwick College students and colleagues,

It is with profound sadness that I share with you the passing of Savannah Bursese ’15, who was killed in a tragic car accident yesterday, October 6.

Before joining Hartwick College, Savannah attended Broadalbin-Perth High School and Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Here, she earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Political Science and Business Administration. She was a sister of Phi Sigma Phi and a member of the Hartwick College Volleyball team.

On behalf of the Hartwick College community, I extend our sincere condolences to Savannah’s family. For the members of our campus community who knew Savannah, I am sure this news is met with deep sadness. You have my sincere sympathy. Please know that our entire community stands with you in this time of grief, and they join me in cherishing Savannah’s memory.

If you are in need of additional support, Hartwick is here for you. You may contact any member of the Student Experience staff at 607-431-4501, call the Counseling Center at 607-431-4420 from 9 a.m. to 5p.m. Monday through Friday, or call Campus Safety 24 hours a day at 607-431-4111 and they will connect you with needed resources.
