The 17th Annual Chenango County Relay for Life kicks off tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Chenango County Fairgrounds in Norwich. The event always brings out a big crowd of cancer survivors and the public. Teams will walk the track all night long in support of cancer research, along with other activities and fun throughout the night. Local event chair Marie DeSarro says the event is a moving celebration of cancer survivors and the memory of those no longer with us.

"The event is open to the public and we encourage people to come down and check out all the different things we have going on," DeSarro said. "Our goal this year is $158,000, walk-in donations are welcomed and encouraged and are taken at our main event tent."

The 17th Annual Relay for Life to benefit cancer research begins tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Norwich and runs until the closing ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
