Things Paula Loves: Acoustic Bruce Springsteen
I was listening to the radio the other day while driving through Delaware County, and I was delighted (as always) to hear Bruce Springsteen come blaring out of my speakers (yes, I like my music LOUD).
Pink Cadillac is a terrific song, but I soon realized the version that was a hit single is no longer my favorite.
Nope. Ever since I discovered this version on YouTube, it's the only one I want to listen to. It's slower, stripped-down, and so much sexier and naughtier. I don't think I've ever noticed how tongue-in-cheek this song is. Take a listen. What do you think?
My favorite Bruce album is Nebraska, so I obviously have a preference for a more stripped-down sound that really allows his songs to shine in all their lyrical, melodic glory. But most people I know prefer the stadium rock sound of 'Born in the USA.' If Bruce really owed me a favor and I could choose anything, I'd have him re-record that album with nothing but his voice and an acoustic guitar. Kind of like this:
I should probably run and hide now.
