U.S. Gas prices have hit a four-month high with 32 straight days of increases at the pump bringing misery to spring breakers and job hunters. The Automobile Association of America said Monday that the national average for a gallon of regular is $3.73 and is 43 cents more than a month ago. Prices top $4 per gallon in California and Hawaii.

A combination of high crude prices, refinery shutdowns, and early speculation has sent gas prices soaring to seasonal highs earlier than usual this year and with no signs of prices at the pump falling until spring, according to recent estimates.

The U.S. Department of Energy released a statement that concluded U.S. households spent an average of just over $2,900 on gasoline in 2012. That is the highest level in four years. U.S. Gasoline prices crept up by about 2 cents per gallon over the past two weeks, but higher crude oil prices are likely to mean more small increases on the horizon, the latest Lundberg Survey concluded recently. Friday's national average was $3.44 for a gallon of regular gasoline. That's up from $3.42 in the previous survey, conducted Jan. 11, but down about a nickel from this time a year ago. R

The Otsego County Conservation Association has updated its map showing parcels with natural gas leases in Otsego County. Created from publicly available data on record at the Otsego County Clerk’s Office, the map shows all parcels found to have been under a gas or oil lease since the late 1990s and the status of those leases as of December 7, 2012.

Attorney general Eric Schniederman announced Thursday 12 more enforcement actions against post Hurricane Sandy price gouging. Twelve gas station operators in the affected areas hit hard by Sandy will be held responsible for a dramatic price increase in gasoline. There is now a total of 25 gas retailers who were caught after citizen complaints.

The State Attorney General’s office has notified 13 gas station operators of its intent to commence enforcement proceedings against them for violations of the New York State Price Gouging statute.

Okay guys, you know me, I don't get upset about a lot of things but gas prices are making me a little crazy! On my way through town this morning I noticed gas prices are up again. $4.15-$4.21 a gallon. This really hurts the wallet. Weekly/monthly budgets are going to really have to adjust for a lot of people to fill their gas tanks...

Gas prices eclipsed the $4 mark in Oneonta on Tuesday. The current lowest gas price comes from BJ's on Rt. 23, which is holding strong at $3.94 a gallon. The highest is the Citgo on the corner of Main and Grove St.
