SUNY Oneonta Mass Vaccination Site Surpasses 25K Doses

When I remember back to when I discovered that SUNY Oneonta was going to become a state-run mass COVID-19 vaccination site, a flood of relief filled me because I thought, "Finally! Easy access to the vaccine" for our rural area. The closest state-run sites were in Binghamton and Albany. That's not exactly close if you're on a tight schedule. It meant taking time off from work to go get that done. So needless to say, I was thrilled for SUNY Oneonta to open its doors to those eligible to receive a vaccine. Add in that just yesterday, access to the vaccine got easier with walk-ins now welcome (any 16 and older) at all state-run vaccination sites which includes SUNY Oneonta.

Following my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at SUNY Oneonta, I was very impressed with the efficiency of the operation which is a coordinated effort between the National Guard and Bassett Healthcare Network.

Bassett Healthcare Network shared some positive news relating to vaccines distributed at SUNY Oneonta. As of April 28, over 25,000 vaccine doses had been given out at that site. Considering that in Otsego County (as of 2019) the population was just shy of 59,500, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, that means our fight against COVID-19 is going very well and it's getting better all the time.

I salute the efforts of Bassett and the National Guard for doing such a great job at SUNY Oneonta, and making the process of getting vaccinated easy.
