Rumble Ponies End Road Swing Tonight in Akron
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies wrap-up their six-game road trip tonight (Wednesday) at Canal Park in Akron as they face the Rubber Ducks at 6:35 P.M. (6:20 air on News Radio 1290 WNBF). Last night Binghamton scored five unanswered runs in the last two innings to defeat Akron 7-6. The Rumble Ponies are 4-1 on the current road trip. Overall Binghamton brings a record of 12-10 into tonight's action. Akron is 13-11.
Marcos Molina takes the hill for the Rumble Ponies. He is 0-1 and squares off against Akron's Shao-Ching Chiang who is 1-0 this season. Peter Alonso, the Eastern League Player of the Week, continues to feast on opposition pitching. Last night he ripped a three-run home run in the ninth inning to drive in what proved to be the winning run. He is tied for the Eastern League lead with eight home runs and has now hit safely in nine consecutive games.
Following tonight's game the Rumble Ponies return to NYSEG Stadium for a four-game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Game one in that series is set for Thursday night at 6:35 at NYSEG Stadium.
