Ricky Martin, born December 24, 1971, was first known as a member of the Puerto Rican boy band, Menudo.  In 1991 he started his solo career and in 1999, he lit the music world on fire.  On this day, May 8, 1999, Ricky Martin hit number one on the U.S. singles charts with "Livin' La Vida Loca".  The single remained on the top of the charts for an incredible five weeks.
