How can the $10,000,000 Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant build on Oneonta’s history to help contribute to its future? This is the question that will be addressed in an open forum on Sunday January 22 at 1:00 PM, hosted by the Greater Oneonta Historical Society (GOHS) at the History Center, 183 Main Street.  All are welcome to attend and share their ideas.  Those unable to attend, are welcome to submit a written statement to info@OneontaHistory.org.

GOHS executive director Bob Brzozowski says, "Historic preservation is an important component of economic development, and especially in downtown revitalization. Much of the area included in the Downtown Revitalization Initiative is in the Oneonta Downtown Historic District on the State and National Registers of Historic Places. The city’s Main Street is appreciated for its historic look by residents and visitors. The History Center is located downtown in part to contribute to downtown’s revitalization. Attention to Oneonta's history and to historic preservation should be an integral part of the DRI."
