Investigation into Fight Leads to Three Drug Arrests in Oneonta

A dispute Tuesday night on Maple St. in Oneonta resulted in three drug arrests by the Oneonta Police Department.

Police responded to a reported fight in progress at 40 Maple St., and through an investigation, police say drugs were determined to be the cause of the dispute.

State Senator James Seward announced Tuesday final legislative passage of a bill that would protect providers for services for developmentally disabled from state funding cuts.

The legislation, co-sponsored by Senator Seward, would appropriate up to $90 million to the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities to protect providers from funding reductions if recommended savings measures fall short of projections.

Storms, Raging Currents Cause Two Drowning Deaths in Delaware, Otsego County

A capsized kayak in the West Branch Delaware River and a capsized canoe on Goodyear Lake resulted in two drowning deaths this week.

Donald Shamus, 21, of Delhi, was discovered by emergency services personnel and law enforcement after a call came in around noon of a possible drowning in the West Branch Delaware River. Grant Houseworth, 56, of Maryland, died in the hospital nearly 24 hours after he was pulled from Goodyear Lake after a Monday storm capsized his canoe.
