The votes are in and it's really too close to call. Recently the state lifted its ban on smoking in state parks after strong outcry from smokers rights groups.

We asked you how you felt and you responded with mixed feelings.

As of this post, the majority of Oneontans say they disapprove of the state lifting the ban with 46 percent of the vote.

Those who approve of lifting the ban stands at 38 percent, while the remaining 16 percent said they would approve if there were designated smoking areas.

However, what we found interesting was the commentary on Facebook, which was widely anti-smoker.

Kelly understandably disapproves of any rights given to smokers in public areas. However, the state is in a difficult situation. Smokers rights groups say they will sue if the park ban continues or is reinstated.

If this goes to court there are significant outcomes. For one, if smokers rights groups win and the court agrees that the ban infringes on their rights, then there's precedent set for future lawsuits against businesses, which have for more than a decade have banned smoking inside.

If the court rules in favor of the state, then it isn't out of the question to have future restrictions, to the point if you smoke anywhere outside of your house or car, it would be illegal.
