The New York Knicks have won their eighth consecutive game with a 137-127 overtime thriller over the Atlanta Hawks at the garden last night.

The fans were cheering Defense, and paying homage to their hometown heroes, it was like being transported back to the 1990’s.

Julius Randle had another 40-point game including a key layup in the paint with seconds remaining and Atlanta’s Bogdan Bogdanovic followed with a three pointer to send the game into overtime.

The game was physical with both Knicks Centers getting banged up Taj Gibson left the game with an eye contusion, and Nerlens Noel was out for a period of time with a lip contusion.

The Hawks lost their superstar Trae Young, who left the game early in the second half with an ankle injury.

The Knicks last lost was back on April 7th when they went one for their last five games, since then they have taken down Memphis, Toronto, The Lakers, New Orleans twice, Dallas, Charlotte, and Atlanta.

The winning steak matches their 2013-14 season, a year in which they failed to make the playoffs.

The Knicks are in sole possession of fourth place in the Eastern Conference, but they have a difficult schedule ahead and the conference is stacked very tight with a game and a half separating  four teams.

The Knicks will host the Toronto Raptors on Saturday, followed by the Phoenix Suns and Chicago Bulls before they head out west for six games.

If you’re a Knick fan, you’re waiting for the bottom to drop out, its what we’re used to seeing, but I like the direction in which this team is moving, they are building something special here.

Go Knicks!
