If Only People Would Follow The 10 Driving Commandments For Oneonta, NY

At least drive the speed limit to keep traffic flowing.  Don’t even think about driving 15 to 20.

If you are one of the very brave who will dare to turn left from Elm Street onto Main then you either have a death wish or are a major daredevil since there's no way to see oncoming traffic. There are other intersections that are also low visibility.

Be VERY AWARE that college students always think they have the pedestrian right of way when it comes to crossing the street.  Much of the time, they don’t even look before crossing the street because they are used to having the right of way on campus.

The Southside of Oneonta seems to be busy with traffic all the time now and that requires patience (it is what it is) and paying attention to make sure you don't get stuck in the middle of an intersection, blocking traffic.

Four-way stops operate on a first come-first served basis!  Don't jump ahead of your proper turn and proceed in the order of arrival at the stop.

Throughout the course of the year, Oneonta gets many visitors. They might be tourists, new college students, parents of college students, baseball families, etc. Visitors tend to get in wrong lanes and drive slow because they don't know where they're going. Be patient since they add to our local economy.

Learn to park evenly WITHIN the lines of the parking spot so others can get into their car and not ding your door in the process.

If you're the person who hangs out in the left, fast lane on a highway, don't get mad when someone passes you on the right. Remember the highway road rule: slower traffic should be in the right lane. If you're passing someone, then get the right lane as soon as it's safe to do so.

Remember that turn signals exist for a reason.  Are you really that lazy or is your attention somewhere else completely?  Either way, YIKES!
