Whether you love the songs or hate the songs — or love one and find the other somewhat annoying, as some of us do — Gotye‘s ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ and teen star Carly Rae Jepsen‘s ‘Call Me Maybe’ are two of the biggest, most ubiquitous and most unavoidable hits of 2012. So, what happens when two such massively successful songs become one?

You get a mash-up for the ages. We certainly hope that the Pomplamoose mash-up of Gotye’s ‘Somebody’ and Jepsen’s ‘Maybe,’ which for some reason is titled ‘Do Not Push,’ doesn’t come anywhere close to as popular as either tune — our ears couldn’t take it — but you never know. These things have a tendency to take off and become crazy popular.

Multi-instrumentalists Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn are the musicians behind Pomplamoose, the Corte Madera, Calif.-based duo best known for its memorable YouTube videos and songs placed in Toyota and Hyundai commercials. Look for their profile only to rise with the growing success of the ‘Do Not Push’ video, which has racked up closing in on 100,000 views in its first couple days out.
