Ever Wonder Where The Spoils Go After A Drug Arrest?

If you believe movies and television cop shows, the drugs and money that police seize after an arrest end up in hands of a dirty cop for his own greedy purposes.  Here's what really happens according to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office:

"First, it is collected, inventoried, and marked as evidence. Then it is stored in a safeguarded location. After court proceedings, the law enforcement agency receives a 'destruction order' from the court for the drugs to be destroyed via a medical incinerator. This burns drugs in a safe, environmentally-friendly manner.

The money is divided among several law enforcement agencies who participate in the Drug Task Force, plus the Prosecutor's Office. And 10% must be used for drug education!"
