The prospect of a 4th state casino in the Southern Tier has stirred up opposition from The Coalition against Gambling urging the Gaming commission to not heed the request made by Governor Como to site a 4th casino in the Southern Tier.  The request was made following the decision to site a casino between Syracuse and Rochester, which is far from the Southern tier. The coalition against gambling in New York says there is no reason for another casino license in zone 5 or for that matter any license  anywhere. The group believes that casinos to be built will be detrimental to the people in the area and to the State.
