THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BINGHAMTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR A HAZARDOUS MIX OF SNOW SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM MONDAY TO 4 PM EST TUESDAY.
* LOCATIONS... ONEIDA, MADISON AND OTSEGO COUNTIES IN NORTH CENTRAL NEW YORK.
* HAZARD TYPES... SNOW, SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN.
* ACCUMULATIONS... SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 2 TO 4 INCHES... ALONG WITH AROUND ONE QUARTER OF AN INCH OF ICE.
* TIMING... SNOW WILL DEVELOP LATE MONDAY EVENING AND CHANGE TO A MIX OF FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET TUESDAY MORNING. FREEZING RAIN WILL CHANGE TO ALL RAIN TUESDAY AFTERNOON.
* IMPACTS... VERY HAZARDOUS TRAVEL. SPORADIC POWER OUTAGES FROM THE COMBINATION OF ICE AND GUSTY WINDS.
* WINDS... SOUTHEAST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH.
* TEMPERATURES... IN THE MID UPPER 20S MONDAY NIGHT RISING TO THE LOW TO MID 30S BY LATE TUESDAY AFTERNOON.
