Last evening at 687, route 205, in the town of Oneonta, fire fighters were called to a residence fully engulfed in flames. Aid was provided by Laurens Fire/EMS, West Laurens Fire, Mount Vision Fire, Otego Fire, Oneonta Fire, County Coordinators, Wells Bridge Fire, Milford Fire, Morris Fire. According to AllOTSEGO, a husband and wife were transported to the hospital. The wife went to A.O. Fox Hospital and was later released.  The husband was taken to Bassett and was later transferred to a hospital in Syracuse.  The extent of his injuries are not known at this time.  The couple was at home when the fire broke out.  They were alerted by smoke detectors and did manage to get out of their burning residence.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but according to West Oneonta Fire Dept. Assistant Chief John Quick, arson is not suspected.  He also says that the home was a total loss.
