Today is not a sunny day on Sesame Street. Kevin Clash, the voice actor and puppeteer behind Elmo, the show's most popular character, has taken an indefinite leave of absence following allegations the he had sexual relations with an underage boy.

Let's face it, Oscar was a grouch!  But there was one tiny guy that always brought out a little tenderness in him.  Today,  is Slimey the worm's birthday.  He made his first appearance on Sesame Street in the show's 13th season (1981-1982).   Do you remember how they met?

It’s a sad day for lovers of ‘Sesame Street’ everywhere — Jerry Nelson, the puppeteer who gave Count von Count his voice passed away Thursday of unspecified causes at the age of 78.
