Happy Birthday Slimey [Videos]

Let's face it, Oscar was a grouch!  But there was one tiny guy that always brought out a little tenderness in him.  Today,  is Slimey the worm's birthday.  He made his first appearance on Sesame Street in the show's 13th season (1981-1982).   Do you remember how they met?Oscar was at the park one rainy day and found a baby worm.  It was Slimey playing in the mud.  When he saw Oscar he crawled right to him.  On his hand, up his arm then on his shoulder and fell asleep.  Oscar brought him home to his trash can and they have been together ever since.  I always loved how you could see the little sticks used to manipulate him.  They were obvious yet they seemed to disappear as you watch Slimey in action.

It's hard to pick my favorite Sesame Street character.   I really love them all but today I am picking Grover, that loveable, furry blue monster.  He is a great waiter, (I mean, he really tries), he is a super hero, can sing, and loves his mommy.  Good boy, Grover.
