It was a big turnout at the new home of the Susquehanna Animal Shelter this past Saturday for their official ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house event. After working their tails off to provide a better, larger, safer, and more guideline compliant facility as set by the Association of Shelter Veterinarians, the Susquehanna SPCA (SQSPCA) just outside of Cooperstown on Rt. 28 reached fundraising goals in order to build the state-of-the-art facility for animals in their care. It took them all of last week to move into the new facility and the former shelter was closed during that time.

The new shelter is only 1.2 miles north up Rt. 28, from its former location and just like the old facility, there's a thrift store for people to come and shop at which will continue to assist with shelter operational costs.

Just to give you a peek into the new shelter, here's a video of one of the SQSPCA's adoptable dogs being introduced to his new, hopefully, temporary home.
