A position designed to support the equity, diversity and inclusion endeavors of SUNY Oneonta's academic divisions, administrative departments, and all offices, the Chief Diversity Officer will have a new face as of September 1, Dr. Bernadette Tiapo.

In a press release Thursday, President Barbara Jean Morris stated “Dr. Tiapo brings a depth of experience to her new role. She will help us bring diversity and inclusion to the forefront of discussion, moving the college toward our vision to become the exemplar residential community, providing relevant educational experiences in and outside of the classroom.”

Dr. Tiapo most recently held the position of Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer at SUNY Potsdam (since 2016). Tiapo is no stranger to SUNY Oneonta, from 2008 to 2014 she was SUNY Oneonta’s Director of Student Multicultural Affairs.
