I love that the NFL has reached out to the one "man" that can truly put the "wild" in Wild Card weekend, Spongebob Squarepants. When I first heard this was happening I did the typical "I hate change" rant about how this is silly and makes a joke of the NFL but then I realized it's brilliant and I want to see it for two reasons. First, you don't have to watch this version of the broadcast if you don't want to, and second THE HALF TIME SHOW!!!

According to Viacom the parent company of CBS and Nickelodeon the alternative broadcast that will air on Nickelodeon will consist of a lot of Spongebob and the cast of "All That".

Play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle will be joined by CBS Sports’ analyst Nate Burleson and Nick star Gabrielle Nevaeh Green (All That, Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered) in the booth to call the NFL Wild Card Game on Nickelodeon. Additionally, Nick star Lex Lumpkin (All That, Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered) will serve as a reporter during the game. Nickelodeon’s coverage begins with “The SpongeBob SportsPants Countdown Special,” a sports-themed compilation special at 4 p.m. (ET) hosted by the Denver Broncos’ Von Miller, highlighting SpongeBob’s best sports moments and featuring pre-kickoff appearances by CBS Sports’ Jim Nantz and Tony Romo, as well as Eagle, Burleson and Green.

So you can watch a more traditional and "grown-up" version of the Sunday, January 10th NFL Wild Card game on CBS or check out this more "kid-friendly" version on Nickelodeon. I feel like if they had this when my daughter was little I would have had a way easier and cheaper way to get here to enjoy football with me. I had to bribe her with a spread of food and finally take her to a few games before she truly loved the game. Maybe if I had Spongebob's help from the beginning she wouldn't be a Ravens fan now.

There's realistically only one way I won't be happy with this creative merger between Nickelodeon and the NFL. If they miss this chance to replay or reinvent the greatest halftime show EVER! All I'm saying is this better be part of the halftime show!
