On this day, May 24 in 1997, the Spice Girls took the#1 spot on the U. S. album chart with "Spice".  This was quite significant as they are only the third all girl band to achieve this this status along with the Supremes and the Go-Go's.

Also on this day in 1997, Hanson started their 3 week run at  #1 on the U.S. singles chart with "Mmmbop".
