It is a suspicion almost everyone feels when a cleaning service comes to their home. The maid might be stealing. "Seinfeld" has a solution for that.

It is a delicate task accusing someone of stealing from you. Are you sure the item wasn't just misplaced? How do you bring it up?

Jerry has a statue in his apartment that actually belongs to George in "The Statue." After hiring a man, Ray, to clean the apartment, George's statue goes missing.

Through a strange connection Jerry winds up in the cleaning person's apartment and sees the same statue. Now, he has suspicion and confirmation.

So what does he do? Skirt the confrontation over lunch while George listens from the next booth, of course.

Now Ray doesn't admit to stealing it! What to do?

There are several approaches here. And if you're Seinfeld you talk to your buddy who is up for anything.

This works on a number of levels because not only have you absolved yourself from the "dirty work" but you've managed to form a posse of people hellbent on getting back your statue.

So the "Seinfeld" solution here is:

  • Validate your suspicion
  • Confront perpetrator with a witness
  • Ask friend to harass perpetrator
  • Get back your statue
