On May 28th, state troopers from Richfield Springs arrested Thomas F. Krietsch, 27, of Richfield Springs for firing a rifle near the state police station.

Krietsch has been charged with reckless endangerment, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, possessing a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle, and discharging a firearm over a roadway.

The arrest was the result of the defendant apparently discharging a weapon in the vicinity of the New York State Police Barracks located on State Route 20 in Richfield Springs.

Krietsch was arraigned in the Town of Richfield Court and remanded to the Otsego County Jail on bail. He will be back in court on July 22nd.

New York State Police were assisted at the scene by the Otsego County Sheriff's Department and the Village of Cooperstown Police Department.
