Regional Craft Breweries To Check Out
Breweries inhabit a good portion of upstate New York. This year, Cooperstown on Tap is featuring many breweries from upstate New York including Genesee Brewing Company from Rochester, Adirondack Brewery from Lake George, Empire Brewing Company from Syracuse, and Ithaca Beer Company from Ithaca to name a few. In addition to these amazing breweries, there are many other breweries close to home that are worth checking out!
There are many breweries in Otsego County alone, including Roots Brewing Company Inc., Council Rock Brewery, and Cooperstown Brewing Co. An important brewery to mention is Brewery Ommegang! Based in Cooperstown, Ommegang was built in 1997 with the Belgian thought that every beer should be special. With over 30 plus beers to taste, Brewery Ommegang makes sure that each beer has unique and defining qualities. However, beer isn't the only thing offered from this brewery. Ommegang provides various tasting opportunities and events as well as concerts where house-crafted beer is sold. Cafe treats are also available for purchase at Brewery Ommegang's new Cafe Ommegang.
Along with Otsego County breweries, there are many more to try out in Delaware County. These breweries include Catskill Brewery, Woods Brewing, and Callicoon Brewing Company. A great brewery to test out is Roscoe Beer Co. As an old firehouse-turned-brewery, Roscoe Beer Co. released their first beer in 2013. Since then, the beer company outgrew its original space while the staff worked hard to create new and exciting brews that combine beer with a feeling of the outdoors. Now, Roscoe Brewing Co. offers many events including their Trout Town Summerfest and Trout Town Oktoberfest that attract people from all over to celebrate nature with a great, home-brewed beer.
Chenango County provides the public with multiple breweries as well, such as Humble Harvest Brewing Inc., Water Street Brewing Co., and Binghamton Brewing Co. A really interesting brewery to check out is Good Nature Brewing. At Good Nature Brewing, one can drink, order, and witness the brewing of various types of craft beer in one place. Being environmentally friendly is important to this brewery, so the staff at Good Nature Brewing has taken large steps toward being green. This company offers a restaurant with a beer garden and outdoor grill where beer can be sold to enjoy both at the brewery and at home. Kegs are available for purchase as well.
In addition to these breweries, Schoharie County has their share of breweries. Helderberg Brewery, Honey Hollow Brewing Company, and Cave Mountain Brewing Company can all be found within Schoharie County. Green Wolf Brewing Co. also falls inside Schoharie County, and resides in Middleburgh. All beers crafted here are brewed with important details. This brewery places importance on using local ingredients whenever possible, and makes it a point to do so. Green Wolf Brewing Co.'s Tap Room offers live music as well as board games to enjoy while many taste different unique beers on tap.
Remeber that Cooperstown on Tap is approaching. Make sure you're prepared!
