‘Otsego Octet Challenge’ Continues Through April 30
Have you heard of the Otsego Outdoors’ "Otsego Octet Winter Challenge"? This collaborative effort between Otsego 2000, the Otsego Land Trust, and Otsego County Conservation Association is designed to get area residents outdoors enjoying all that Otsego County has to offer and it continues through April 30th.
Whether you enjoy hiking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing, local parks and forests are filled with natural beauty. The challenge is for all experience levels and ages. Some trails are under a mile and will usually take less than an hour, other trails could take several hours, especially in deep snow. There are twelve featured trails, and the Octet Challenge requires that you complete 8 of the 12, with at least one trail in each of the four areas of the county, then send in a form, after which you can receive an Otsego Octet patch ($5 fee per patch). Participants are also encouraged to post photos of their activities with the tags #otsegooctet and #otsegooutdoors.
To find out destinations and trails for the Otsego Octet Challenge, along with all information needed, visit otsegooutdoors.org, call 607-547-8881, or email outdoors@otsego2000.org. Outdoor enthusiasts who like this idea can look forward to "A Summer Challenge" to be announced this May.
