According to a press release, Judge Michael V. Coccoma, who has served in Otsego County's legal system since 1979, is announcing his retirement as an Otsego County judge. His retirement will step down at the end of this month.

He started his private practice as a lawyer in 1979 and became appointed as Otsego County's Assistant District Attorney one year later. He followed that up by serving as District Attorney and was elected to the position of Otsego County Judge in 1994. His impressive career also includes being elected as a New York State Supreme Court Justice in 2007 and was appointed Administrative Judge of the 10 Southern Tier counties of the 6th Judicial District in 2008.

In Otsego County, Coccoma was instrumental in the formation of the County’s first Drug Treatment Court and worked for many years with the Drug Treatment Court team and presided over the biweekly court proceedings.
