The Otsego County Jail won’t be housing inmates until early next year due to a leaky roof. According to AllOTSEGO, Sheriff Richard Devlin says the leak started last Thursday after heavy downpours on Halloween, resulting in all inmates being moved to other facilities because the leak posed hazards.

$230,000 in emergency funding was approved by the County Board of Representatives so repairs can be done. The jail was built 30 years ago. While the repair work is being done, it's costing the county $85 a day to board inmates at outside facilities. Staff, remain at the jail while incoming inmates must be transferred elsewhere until the work is complete.
