Oneonta’s West St. Closed To Thru-Traffic Starting Oct 3rd

The City has contracted an outside construction firm to replace drainage and water utilities at the intersection of Chestnut St and West St, beginning Monday, October 3rd. Work will occur between 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and is expected to be completed by October 12th, weather permitting.
Although one-lane traffic will be maintained, there will be occasional traffic delays. In
addition, West St will be closed to through traffic from Chestnut St to Center St during work hours and traffic will be detoured via Church St. No parking will be allowed along Church St. from Chestnut St to Huntington Park to allow bus and truck traffic to safely negotiate the turn.
University staff, students and employees are encouraged to avoid Chestnut St while travelling to and from campus, if at all possible. For the duration of the project, during all hours of bus operation, the OPT bus stops at High & West and Chestnut & Church will be moved to Church St near the entrance to Huntington Park.
