Oneonta Fire Chief Pidgeon Announces Retirement
The City of Oneonta and the City of Oneonta Fire Department announce the retirement of Chief Patrick W. Pidgeon in late March. Chief Pidgeon joined the Department in 1985. In his 36 years with the City, he served as a firefighter, crew leader, Fire Captain and eventually was promoted to Chief, a position he has held since 2010. Chief Pidgeon was one of the first members of the Department to be licensed as an Advanced Life Support (“ALS”) Emergency Medical Technician, which provided him with life-saving skills that are used to provide urgent treatment in medical emergencies and he considers that one of his greatest achievements with the department. Chief Pidgeon is part of a family legacy of service to The Oneonta Fire Department - he's the 9th member of his family to be a member of the department.
The City of Oneonta has not released any information at this time on who will replace him as Chief.
