The Oneonta City School District buildings capital project is coming up for a vote on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

OCSD Superintendent David Rowley talks about the security issue that the capital project will cover.

"The new security system that will be installed on every district building. That's a system that's going to create a single point of entry -- one door for the public to come in," he said. "The door will be monitored by digital surveillance  it will have an electric strike plate, so it will be locked at all times. If you're a visitor, you'll have to be cleared to come in the door. It will create the security that has been needed for many years and has been recommended by the safety committee."

Voting booths for all registered voters who live in the Oneonta City School District open at noon and close at 9 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Center Street School.
