Add the St. Lawrence Seaway to Places With Award-Winning Wines!
New York State now ranks among the top wine, vineyard, and winery destinations in the United States. Our lovely Finger Lakes region is home to 50 wineries and wine sellers, a tourism component that drives thousands of visitors to that special part of Upstate New York.
But there are other wine regions in the state also. Places like Western New York, the Hudson Valley, Central New York, and the Catskills now also have plenty of places to visit, explore, and have a sip of some fine regional wines. This gallery looks north, and shines the spotlight on several large and small family owned and operated wineries located in the St. Lawrence Seaway region.
This gorgeous part of the Empire State has long been popular with vacationers, outdoor enthusiasts, artists and writers, winter sports fans, and people who cherish the opportunity to fish in some of the richest fishing waters in the East. Places like Alexandria Bay, with its magical Boldt Castle, welcome thousands of visitors each summer.
And, now we can add some splendid wineries to the list of reasons to visit this area along the Canadian border. Here, we offer a selection of some wonderful wineries to visit. They have award-winning wines, expert staff, large and comfortable tasting rooms, and (many of them) offer food and live entertainment events. Each mentioned winery has a direct link to their website for hours and information. You can also visit the area's own "wine trail" for more details.
And, remember. If your favorite St. Lawrence-area winery didn't make our list (and there are several more), please feel free to give it a shout out over on our Facebook page. We want to hear from you!
