Oneonta Police got a surprise this past Saturday morning when 27-year-old Shawn N. Stilson of Oneonta entered the police station at 5:30 a.m., bleeding from multiple cuts due to a crashing his car, according to AllOTSEGO.

Police followed up with an investigation, locating Stilson’s Ford Escape, which he had driven the wrong way down one-way Fairview Street, traveling across Main, crashing through a fence and finally landing on the railroad tracks below.

Stilson told police he was fleeing a domestic disturbance.  Stilson was subsequently transported to Bassett Hospital after he complained of “extreme pain.”  Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. .

After being released from the hospital, Stilson was charged with Criminal Mischief and Reckless Endangerment, both felonies, as well as Reckless Driving and Driving Wrong Down a One-Way Road. He was released to appear in court at a later date.
