Military at Fort Drum to Practice Flying Drones Near Syracuse

There will be military drones flying over the Syracuse region soon.

The Air National Guard unit located at Fort Drum will be authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration to practice operating MQ-9 reapers in new airspace south of Fort Drum in the Syracuse region.

The 174th Air National Guard attack wing operates unmanned aircraft from the Syracuse Hancock field. The drones support military operations in Afghanistan.
