Memorial To Be Held For Teacher Who Died In House Fire

An autopsy conducted on 59-year-old Mary Weingates showed the cause of her death accidental and attributed to asphyxiation from smoke inhalation.

The popular Richfield Springs science teacher died in her home Saturday during a fire. Otsego County fire investigators continue to investigate the cause of the blaze, but is considered accidental.

A Celebration of Life program will be held in memory of Mary Weingates at 1 pm, Saturday November 23rd at Richfield Springs High School. Parents are strongly encouraged to accompany children who will be in attendance.
