‘Meet Me on Main St.’ Kickoff Sets Awesome Tone For Summer Fun
This past Saturday, a "Survive Then Thrive" Oneonta idea came to life once again - "Meet Me on Main Street" took place on Main Street between Chestnut St. extension and Elm St. with the street closed off to traffic from 9 am to 9 pm.
I came Downtown to broadcast the opening of Theresa Emporium's new ice cream shop, located in the store at 155 Main St., and what a great time with all that was going on. First of all, it was a gorgeous day, making the event ripe to draw plenty of people, which it did. It was so nice to see a lot of families out, who got to enjoy 3 different live music venues throughout the day/evening. From where I was stationed at Theresa's Emporium, there was a music duo of two guys playing great classic songs I haven't heard in ages and they were fantastic! The sound of live music after a long pandemic was certainly music to the ears. It was also great to see baseball camp families back in town, which as we know is a needed local economic boost.
If you didn't make it to this past Saturday's event, don't worry as you'll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy it every Saturday throughout the summer (weather permitting) through September 24. There will also be live music over the course of the day and into the evening. Destination Oneonta is sponsoring one of the main stages in Muller Plaza with great live music to enjoy.
There will also be a variety of artisan and other vendors located along the way, especially down toward Chestnut Street. It will be a fun, festival-type atmosphere for those that come to "Meet Me on Main Street".
