Your pets may be loving that you are home more often, or maybe they aren't. What's going to happen when you go back to work?

If you are a pet owner, you know all too well what happened when you had to first start leaving your animal when going to work.

Separation anxiety is real and at first, your pet will show you just how upset they are, especially if they are young. You come home to lots of "presents" and maybe some ruined furniture and a roll of toilet paper torn into shreds all over your house. I mean, who am I kidding, the animals I'm with now do all of this while I'm sitting at my desk working.

According to some of my pet experts, even if you have an animal that has been trained to not do those things when you left for work, they may return to bad habits once you are sent back to the office.

So how do you avoid having to re-train your pet again? Watching a lot of Instagram live videos, I gathered a few tips that I thought would be helpful:

1. Instead of bringing your pet for a walk with you, leave them alone. I know you feel bad leaving them home but they would usually be inside all day anyway.

2. If you put them in a crate before, start doing that again but in short intervals. They will cry but remember they will have to start getting used to it again.

3. Dogs are much like humans, they like routine, so start getting them back into the routine that they had when you were working. Yes, that includes fewer potty breaks.

Who knows when we will be able to get back into the office but we all know the heartbreaking moments we are bound to have when we leave our crying pets to go to work.

Have you broken some of the good habits and routines your pet had before the pandemic?
